On this Baisakhi day, joy and gratitude we sow.’
Police DAV Public School, Jalandhar organised a special Baisakhi Mela for students of classes II to V. Children came dressed in traditional punjabi colorful outfits. The school premises was decorated aptly to depict ‘Baisakhi Mela Scene’ . The festival of harvest was celebrated to acquaint students with cultural heritage. Stalls of different food items as ‘Chatori Gali’ were put up. A gift shop was set up and children enjoyed buying small little gifts for themselves and their friends. A corner ‘ rustam da akhada’ was also set , presenting its significance in punjabi culture . A cultural programme was presented by students of class lll to V.
The school principal , Dr. Rashmi Vij conveyed her best wishes to all and blessed everyone with the bounty of the season and a harvest of joy and prosperity. The event presented a marking success under the guidance of supervisor , Ms. Gargi Sharma.
The children of Pre-Primary also came dressed up in traditional Punjabi dresses and did bhangra on Punjabi songs..They watched a movie and learnt about the importance of baisakhi festival. They also recited poems on baisakhii festival and enjoyed a lot. Children played games with lots of enthusiasm. Children brought yellow coloured food in their tiffins to celebrate this special day and relished it with their friends.
