‘Cleanliness is next to godlinesss’ is an oft- quoted saying which has tremendous relevance. Cleanliness is a virtue, a social responsibility. It imparts not only physical but also mental well being. ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’ is an initiative by the Government of India. The programme has garnered massive support in the past years and has become a mass movement across the country to encourage cleanliness and sanitation.
Various activities were organised under ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’ at Police DAV Public School, Jalandhar. Under this, a ‘hand- washing’ activity was conducted in the Primary wing. The students were acquainted with the proper way to clean hands thoroughly and the immense relevance this has to maintain good health and hygiene and ward off diseases. The teachers also took the initiative and volunteered for the cleaning and maintenance of the staff rooms in the school. Eco-friendly items were used for the purpose of decoration.
Principal Dr. Rashmi Vij visited all the staff rooms and appreciated the efforts of the teachers. Teachers of the Sanitation Club were also present on this occasion.
