CAPACITY BUILDING TRAINING PROGRAMME 

A Capacity Building Training Programme for teachers was organized under the aegis of CBSE at Police DAV Public School, PAP Campus.

The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by the school Principal, Dr. Rashmi Vij and the resource persons. On this occasion, the school Principal, Dr. Rashmi Vij, welcomed the guests and emphasized the importance of innovation in education,constant evolution in pedagogy and developing empathy for students.

The main themes of this workshop were ‘Storytelling as a Pedagogy’, ‘Mental Health and Wellness Among Students’, and ‘Learning Outcomes and Pedagogies’.

Mr Gurbhej Singh Nagi, Principal, Guru Nanak Public School, Ludhiana,

Ms Rohini Rohit Gurung, Principal, Podar International School, Jalandhar, Ms Rajwinder Pal, former Principal, MGN Public School, Jalandhar.

The resource persons for the CBTP on the theme- ‘Storytelling as Pedagogy’ were Mr Ajendar Tiwari Prasad and Dr Raman Dua.

The resource persons emphasized the importance of embedding storytelling as a core teaching-learning strategy. They shared insights on different types and elements of stories. The session highlighted storytelling as a powerful pedagogical tool to enhance students’ engagement, creativity, Communication skills and holistic development and also to simplify complex concepts.

In the experiential segment, teachers collaborated in groups to enact stories based on various Curricular topics. Each group also presented the learning outcomes, ensuring clarity of concept & practical application. They demonstrated how the art of storytelling can be integrated with various subjects and how to implement the same effectively in the classroom.

During the workshop based on the theme- ‘Learning Outcomes and Pedagogies’, resource persons Mr Gurbhej Singh Naghi, Principal – Guru Nanak Public School, Ludhiana, and Ms Sunaina Kapoor, Principal, Geetanjali International School, Ludhiana, explained David Kolb’s Learning Cycle and the difference between learning objectives and learning outcomes.

Discussion was held on the main stages of the learning cycle: Concrete Experience, Reflective Observation, Abstract Conceptualization, and Active Experimentation.

During the workshop on the theme- ‘Mental Health and Wellness Among Students’, resource persons Ms Rohini Rohit Gurang, Principal, Podar International School Jalandhar, and Ms Rajwinder Pal, former Principal, MGN Public School, Jalandhar, discussed types of mental health issues and the common emotional and psychological challenges faced by the children. They reiterated the crucial role of teachers in ensuring the mental well being of students by recognising the symptoms and taking relevant and timely measures to mitigate the issue

During the workshops, various videos were shown, different activities were conducted, and there was interaction with the teachers.
