The Principal serves as the cornerstone of an educational institution, guiding its academic, administrative and ethical framework. The words hold true for the Founder Principal of Police DAV Public School, Jalandhar, Dr Rashmi Vij who through her visionary leadership and exemplary service, inspired excellence, innovation, holistic development of the students and a culture of lifelong learning.
A Valedictory Ceremony was organised to mark the superannuation of Principal, Dr Rashmi Vij in honour of her dedicated leadership and matchless contribution to the phenomenal progress of the institution. Her contributions to education earned her numerous prestigious awards and accolades including the National Teacher Award (2007), awarded by the former President of India, Smt. Pratibha Patil; Global Teacher Accreditation (2012), awarded by the British Council; Scout Award given by the National Innovation Foundation for promoting innovative thinking; Best Principal Award, Conferred by the DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi.
She has served as the Regional Officer for DAV Public Schools in the Jalandhar Zone and the City Coordinator for CBSE Schools. She held roles within the District Administration advisory committees for education.
At the onset of the Valedictory Ceremony, the Chief guest, Mr M F Farooqui, IPS, ADGP/SAP cum Chairman School LMC, was given a floral welcome. A warm welcome was accorded to the chief guest, Dr Rashmi Vij. The lighting of the lamp marked the commencement of the event.
Vice Chairman school LMC, Mr Inderjit Talwar, Ex Chairman of school LMC Sh Rajan Gupta IPS/DGP retired, Mr P K Uppal DIG PAP Retired, Ms Sween Puri, Manager, Mr Anoop Kumar, Principal DAV College, Dr Yogesh Gambhir, Principal Police DAV Public School, Jalandhar and Principals of various schools and colleges also graced the occasion.
Musical presentations dedicated to the outgoing Principal stirred an emotional response from one and all. Videos and presentations showcased her phenomenal journey and massive achievements in her 30 years long tenure. Tributes were offered to the magnanimous Principal. This was followed by a captivating dance performance as an artistic expression of gratitude and appreciation. Honourable Dr Rashmi Vij was presented with shawls, mementoes and gifts as tokens of appreciation. Videos carrying emotional messages sent from all corners of the world were showcased.
The dignitaries commended the exceptional achievements and the visionary leadership of Dr Rashmi Vij through which she made the school attain a mighty stature. They were all praise for the superior qualities of head and heart that she is the owner of. They appreciated her unexceptional stewardship through which the school transformed into a temple of learning, a hub of innovation and the center of skill building and achieved fame not only at the National but international level.
Emotions welled up when Dr Rashmi Vij gave her valedictory address as she recalled the precious moments in her stupendous thirty years of Principalship. She expressed her gratitude to all who had been with her in her journey. Brimming with emotions, she said she was leaving her soul behind.
A spellbinding Bhangra performance gave a joyous finale to the event. The event ended with the resolution that the legacy built by the Principal will be preserved and carried forward in the time to come.
