Police DAV Public School, Jalandhar, celebrated Vasant Panchami for class ll to V ,with great enthusiasm today, January 23. The event commenced with a sacred Saraswati Pooja, invoking blessings for knowledge and wisdom. Children enchanted the audience with a graceful dance on Saraswati Vandana , followed by an energetic song and bhangra performance that captured the festive spirit of spring. Dressed in vibrant yellow attire symbolizing prosperity and mustard fields, students showcased their talents through traditional dances.A small play was enacted by the children portraying the arrival of spring season and the boundless happiness it brings . Ma’am principal, graced the occasion with her words of wisdom, enlightening the children on the festival’s deep significance. She explained how Vasant Panchami heralds spring’s arrival, honors Goddess Saraswati for arts and learning, and emphasizes yellow as a color of joy and intellect. She detailed the preparation of yellow rice , a special sweet dish cooked with saffron or turmeric, shared as prasad during celebrations. She also described the worship of Saraswati Ma through puja, offerings of yellow flowers, and prayers for academic success, aligning with school values of education and culture.
Children also learnt the Saraswati shloka “या देवी सर्वस्वरूपे विद्या रूपेण संस्तिता। नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः॥” by heart during Vasant Panchami celebrations. This shloka praises Goddess Saraswati as the embodiment of knowledge pervading all existence. The event was planned and supervised by Mrs. Gargi Sharma.
