Class tenth is an important turning point in a student’s life. At this stage, students often feel pressure, confusion, and fear about choosing the “right” career. To help students understand themselves better and make informed decisions, a career counselling session was conducted under the able guidance of Principal Dr Rashmi Vij.
It was initiated with insights drawn from the Bhagavad Gita, an ancient yet timeless guide for life and decision-making.
The session began by addressing a common concern among students—fear of failure and comparison with others..
“Karmanye vadhikaraste ma phaleshu kadachana”
-You have the right to perform your duty, but not to the fruits of your actions.
Students were encouraged to focus on effort, learning, and self-growth rather than marks, ranks, or societal pressure. This helped them understand that sincere effort is more important than immediate results.
Students were then guided to reflect on their interests, strengths, and natural abilities, linking to the concept of Swadharma.
“It is better to follow one’s own path”
This message helped students realize that choosing a career should be based on their own aptitude and passion, not on peer pressure or popular trends.
The session also highlighted the importance of discipline, perseverance, and self-belief. Through examples from Arjuna’s life, students learned that confusion is natural, but clarity comes through reflection, guidance, and courage. They were motivated to see challenges as opportunities to grow rather than obstacles. Emphasis was laid on developing the right attitude, ethical values, and balance in life, as suggested in the Gita’s teachings on Karma Yoga.
The session stressed on the fact that success is not a destination but a journey.
The career counselling session proved to be inspiring and reassuring, helping students gain clarity, reduce anxiety and approach their career choices with wisdom and confidence.
The various subject teachers also addressed the students to acquaint them with the career paths available under each stream after twelfth.
The event was organised under the supervision of Ms Urvashi Arora. It was coordinated by Ms Vani and Mr Harkamal.
