MENTAL HEALTH DAY

Mental health is an integral part of our overall well-being, influencing how we think, feel, act and connect with others.

‘Mental Health Day’ was observed at Police DAV Public School, Jalandhar under the able guidance of Principal Dr Rajveer Singh Kang. The event aimed at acquainting the students with the immense significance of mental health in a stress ridden world.

On this occasion, Siya of class twelfth
sensitised the students to the vital importance of mental health and its profound impact on overall well-being. She stressed on nurturing mental well-being in leading a balanced and fulfilling life and developing emotional resilience. Students were told to shed all hesitation and seek help in case of any issue faced by them through the Police DAV Counsellor Helpline.

Principal Dr Rajveer Singh Kang stressed on the commitment of the school to nurture empathy and emotional strength and provide a safe and stress free environment in the school. He reiterated the fact that emotional well-being deserves as much attention as physical health. He encouraged students to break the stigma surrounding mental health, to stay away from bullying others and develop an empathetic approach. He encouraged all to create a supportive environment where everyone feels heard, valued and understood.

Arpita read out the pledge, which was solemnly repeated by all the students in unison. The students took a pledge to take care of their mental well-being, not hesitate to ask for help when required and to listen and support others without judging them. The students also vowed to uplift one another and champion resilience.

The event was coordinated by Ms Vani from the department of Psychology.
