POCSO AWARENESS SESSION

Child safety is a matter of paramount concern as every child deserves to grow, learn and thrive in a secure and nurturing environment. Protecting children from abuse, exploitation and neglect is a collective responsibility that calls for awareness, vigilance and proactive measures by all.

With this in view, an awareness session on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 was organised at Police DAV Public School, PAP Campus, Jalandhar Cantt., to sensitise students about child safety, personal boundaries, legal rights, and the importance of reporting inappropriate behaviour.

The session was conducted by Shri Jagmohan Singh Sanghe, Additional Sessions Judge, Family Court, Jalandhar, and Shri Rampal, Civil Judge, Jalandhar. The distinguished legal experts familiarised students with the key provisions of the POCSO Act and highlighted the legal safeguards available for children.

The speakers emphasised the importance of recognising unsafe situations, maintaining appropriate personal boundaries and seeking help from trusted adults whenever necessary. Students were informed about the importance of speaking up, reporting concerns promptly and understanding that child protection is a shared responsibility.

The session also highlighted important helpline numbers for assistance, including Child Helpline 1098, Police Emergency Helpline 112, and Women Helpline 1930, along with the Free Legal Aid Helpline 15100, as displayed on the awareness poster.

Principal Dr. R. S. Kang appreciated the initiative and emphasised the importance of creating a safe, supportive and child-friendly school environment where every student feels protected, respected, and empowered.

The session was informative and impactful, reinforcing awareness of children’s rights, legal protection and the collective responsibility of schools, families and society in ensuring children’s safety and well-being.

Dr R S Kang presented tokens of gratitude to the honourable judges.
